Novels and short stories represented by drafts or fragments are: A fable; Go down Moses; The hamlet; The mansion, The reivers; Requiem for a nun; and, Spotted horses. There are also fragments of 3 unidentified essays, a press release on integration, a draft of the funeral sermon for Mammy Caroline Barr and 2 maps of Yoknapatawpha County. There is a letter, 1960, to the editor of the Charlottesville Daily Progress about Interstate 64, a letter, n.d., to the editor of the Memphis Commercial Appeal about racial equality, and a letter, n.d., to Alexander Rives about a house payment. The collection also contains the manuscripts for the following poems and short stories: Old ace, Dead dancer, Continuous performance, The husbandman [A green bough], L'apres-midi d'un faune, The lilacs, Music dying languidly in darkness, and One way to catch a horse, as well as untitled fragments and a brief outline for parts of Sanctuary. The collection also contains several sketches including a Japanese woman, soldiers and an airplanie; and "Landing in luck," as printed in the Oxford (Miss.) Eagle in 1919.
